Mrs. IM drove the AWD Sportwagen and loved it, but to get the options she wants you need to go Alltrack. I negotiated a deal to bring a black one from out of town, fully loaded 2018 SEL (top trim) with roof rack, all weather mats, and splash guards thrown in for $31,800, about $5000 off invoice. I think it is a pretty good deal. Car should be here in a couple of days.

Does Oppo approve? Feel free to say so if you think I got fleeced .   (I can still back out)

Did you drive a Tourx during your car search? Because they are like that price or even less and seem to be a lot of car for the money. If Tom McP reads oppo, you might find out if you got a good deal.

Nice choice of car, especially since it has a warranty, but if it were me I’d avoid black. It looks great when clean, terribly dirty the other 99.85% of the time

I loved loved loved my Mk7 Golf...the only thing I didn’t care for were the seats, which is alleviated in the SEL trim. You did well, as long as you realize that in two years it’ll depreciate to about the value of a can of tuna.

FWIW, I got $450 0 off MSRP on my 2018 Golf S hatchback. That was in March 2018.

Similar to you, I had the dealer swap cars with a different store to get the color and options (in particular, a manual transmission) that I wanted.

Eh, overblown fear. The oil pan is stout enough for normal driving. If it’s really a fear, metal aftermarket ones are sold through all of the German tuners for not much more than $100 and it’s super accessible and easy to change.

Our local Oppos trouble was an outlier I think and really only frustrating since it was a warranty repair.

Oppo here, it was frustrating because the dealer was completely, utterly inept in their ability to fix the car.

But then the steering rack went bad, so it’s *HOPEFULLY* gets bought back.

It also seems the Mk7.5's have tanked in quality, because I’m seeing a growing number of posts about oil leaks and steering rack failures and infotainment screen cracks.

On top of that, if you compare Mk7 to Mk7.5 there are noticeable points in where they cheaped out on sound deadening.

Very nice! I really like the Alltrack. If they had been out when I bought my Outback I would have bought one. I loved our 2014 VW TDI wagon.

I didn’t realize the 7.5s had changed that dramatically. That’s disappointing, because I drove my 7 hard and it was nothing but reliable.

Sweet! Now I’ve got the bug and am interested in VW as well. The only thing is we get a shit ton of snow. I drove our manual outback yesterday and busted a 2’ snow  berm and there are very few cars that can do that and live to tell about it.
